DIGITAL WORKSHOPS

When the pandemic started, we began offering digital courses as our solution to e-learning. The Funtasia Digital program later proved to be a platform, unlike anything we’ve ever been able to facilitate in person. At Funtasia, we are strong believers in flexibility and adaptation being at the core of resilience, and the pandemic crisis was the mover of all that innovations.

One for me, one for you. Funtasia Enterprise is pleased to offer digital workshops to those who would not normally be able to attend and can not afford to pay. Please email info@funtasia.world for more information on upcoming classes or inquire about a scholarship.

Society is rapidly changing and with that our educational pedagogy needs to evolve

Our approach is a deliberate blend of six learner-centered frameworks and methodologies that support the transformation of growth and comprehensive learning that is initiated through Funtasia’s educational programs for youth and adults. If only one of the above-mentioned frameworks were used without the other, the outcome would not be the same – we could achieve human connection, self-satisfaction, or safety – however, not all three.

    Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL)

    Experiential Learning

    Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL)

    • Strengthens Emotions
    • How to develop empathy and compassion
    • Strong emotional awareness for youth to become present, creative, responsible, and intuitive in their decision-making
    • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships for a more fulfilled life, openness to experiences

SEL is interwoven into Funtasia programs using different strategies which provide learners with opportunities and the vocabulary to express their emotions. We do this by practicing games and activities focused on self-management (breathing and mindfulness techniques), role play, and creating opportunities to share how they feel while giving authentic feedback.

    Experiential Learning

    • Involving the entire human being add sense
    • Promotes creative exploration rather than memorization and acquisition of a limited amount of information which allows the development of life skills parallel to the process of learning concrete content.
    • Pedagogical approach where learning is built through doing

All our children, youth and adult programs are experiential. We use activities where learners face a challenge and need to find solutions to concrete problems and work in a team to achieve the goal.

    Project Based Learning (PBL)

    Positive Psychology

    Project Based Learning

    • Learners explore real-world challenges through their own eyes and dig deeper to understand them.
    • The project cycle is fully driven by young people guided by their facilitators and educators.
    • A guided open question will inspire the investigations that will lead the group to design, develop and implement projects. Projects are then presented to the wider community.

Each Funtasia education program includes a PBL project cycle. Growth is the learners’ outcome rather than the project or product itself.

Positive Psychology | Popularized by Martin Seligman

    • Practice developing and nourishing positive thoughts, emotions, and signature strengths.
    • Finding satisfaction in achievement, practicing gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness.
    • The ability to meet the person where they are in life and appreciate them for who they are.

We draw Positive Psychology in two main ways; in the relationship with learners and in activity design. With learners, appreciating the participants for what they bring, recognizing the strengths of each individual, and encouraging them to connect with others from the perspective of positivity and opportunity. This practice changes interactions and infuses positive thinking and self-image. It’s the building block of resilience. Activity Design is to maximize the engagement and unfolding of difficulty levels.

    Growth Mindset

    Creative Empowerment
    Model (CEM)

Growth Mindset | Developed by Carol Dweck

    • People’s essential abilities can be developed through dedication and work – brains and talent are just the starting point. When students start to trust they can improve and understand that putting in effort makes them stronger.
    • Recent advances and research in neuroscience have shown that the brain is far more malleable than we ever knew. The connectivity between neurons can change with experience and with practice, neural networks grow new connections and strengthen existing ones, building insulation that speeds the transmission of the impulses.
    • Encourages a love of learning and resilience that is essential for accomplishment and developing the courage to trust oneself and the ability to improve.

All of Funtasia’s programs are based on this belief of focusing on strengths and encouraging learners to stretch their comfort zones and challenging what is possible or what we are used to, often leading to participants being surprised by what they are capable of. We create a safe learning environment before we increase the complexities of activities and the creative risks taken.

    Creative Empowerment Model (CEM)

    • Leading-edge group facilitation based on leadership and group dynamics.
    • Art-based practice that connects different perspectives and understanding of how to develop empathy and compassion.
    • Joy in learning.
    • Practices to build safe learning communities.

The safe environment we build with CEM techniques enables stepping out of the comfort zone and entering a transformative learning zone.

Over the years we’ve worked on a developed design thinking towards education and individuality by promoting empathy, reflection, and problem-solving in students. Through this, we can ignite the development of authentic, unique, and innovative thinking toward new approaches to handling present and future daily life challenges.
